The Carbon Black team is pleased to announce the general availability of our 8.5.0 Mac Agent. Special thanks to the Carbon Black team for all of their hard work in the development and testing of this release!
This release now includes kernel extension based support for macOS 11 Big Sur. As many of you know Big Sur has asked its developers to move out of the kernel to system extensions, but they have not completely removed developers from the kernel.
This has enabled us to provide full product functionality now as we work to develop an agent that utilizes system extensions for the future.
This release does not contain official support for Apple M1 Chipsets, but this support is coming later on in 2021.

Additionally, the following changes have been made in this release:
- Automatic upgrading functionality has been restored.
- Several security, stability, and reliability issues have been addressed. Please review the release notes for more information about this.
