CB Protection Operating Environment Requirements v8.1.8

This document describes the hardware, software and site requirements for implementing a CB Protection Server 8.1.8 and CB Protection Windows agent installations. It is a requirements summary only.

For a successful server installation, you must use the document CB Protection 8.1.8 Server Installation Guide for detailed descriptions of installation procedures. 

For successful agent installations, you must use the instructions in the “Managing Computers” chapter of the document CB Protection 8.1.8 User Guide.

Change log for CB Protection Operating Environment Requirements v8.1.8.pdf (changes since the 8.1.6 version):

  1. Page 2: Modified the 8.1.6 table, CB Protection Database: Supported AWS RDS MS SQL Server Versions.
    • 8.1.6 version: Displays the column “DB Engine versions.”
    • 8.1.8 version:
      • The table was rename: CB Protection Database: AWS RDS MS SQL Server Usage
      • The column “DB Engine versions” has been deleted.

    • 8.1.6 version:
      • There was no column: SQL 2016 SP1 and Later
      • There was no Note 4 regarding indexing.
    • 8.1.8 version:
      • Added column: SQL 2016 SP1 and Later
      • Added footnote #4 to the column “SQL 2016 SP1 and Later.”

        4 Index compression will only be enabled for new installs. Upgrades should reference the SQL 2016 and Earlier column.
  1. Page 5: Modified 2nd bullet under Notes on SQL Edition
    • 8.1.6 version: Unlike SQL Server Enterprise, SQL Server Standard does not use data compression. This is why it needs more memory and disk space.
    • 8.1.8 version: Unlike SQL Server Enterprise, SQL Server Standard prior to SQL Server 2016 SP1 does not use data compression. This is why it needs more memory and disk space.
  2. Minor editing and formatting changes were made that had no impact on content meaning.
