VMware Carbon Black EDR/Hosted EDR Supported Versions
Attention:
As of April 14, 2022, support information for the EDR server and each EDR Sensor is published on VMware Docs as distinct OERs. This UEX page will no longer be updated.
Please use the following links to go directly to the respective OER.
NOTE: Lifecycle Support information has not been migrated to the OERs on VMware Docs at this time.
The Support Grid for VMware Carbon Black EDR and VMware Carbon Black Hosted EDR supported versions details version numbers, support status, and the End of Support date. This Support Grid will be accurate as of release of the 7-series server. The VMware Carbon Black EDR team will be maintaining and keeping this document up-to-date going forward. Please refer to the VMware Carbon Black EDR/Hosted EDR Product Support Lifecycle Policy for more details on this policy.
End of Support is triggered when a release falls outside the window of “Latest and two previous versions” OR when the release exceeds 1 year of General Availability (GA) age. The exact End of Support date is determined by release cadence and/or OS currency requirements.
Every version will be in support for at least 1 year from its GA release date. In the tables below, End of Support dates in parenthesis ( ) indicate the earliest possible date that version could leave support. The actual End of Support dates, shown without parenthesis ( ), can be later, but will never be sooner. This table will be updated as we release new versions.

The following versions will be maintained according to the Legacy OS Version section of the support policy. At this time, we do not have an End of Support date for the latest Legacy OS version. Please note that you should only use the Legacy OS Support Sensor on those machines running the OSes below. Any newer OSes should use newer sensors.

Good morning.
This is excellent documentation.
Do you have one just like this for CB Defense/PSC ?
Thank you in advance!!!
Good morning.
Thank you for this information.
It definitely helps!
sorry, the release notes link above didn't appear to come through properly...I updated it.
@esullivan does CB response has agent for Windows 10 enterprise Multi-session?
@atorabi sorry sir...I do not know the answer to that.
@esullivan @amcadams i think this is not update yet, i upgraded my server to 7.1.1.
its not listed here.
@GauatmThombre thank you for the ping on this. Hopefully he team updates the document shortly.
@esullivan That's Cool, Thanks for quick reply.
What about sensors for Ubuntu/Debian OSes?
@esullivan can you please verify if details for server 7.1.1 us update?
i am concerned which one is the latest version, so i need to plan further. i have 4 different environment.
Hello @GauatmThombre unfortunately I cannot, but hopefully one of the other doc contributors can address your question.
Thank you
Ed
Hi team:
I Realise Oracle RHCK is not in the supported list under Linux. There has been confusion that Oracle RHCK is not longer supported based on this doc
For reference, based on what @dhoi mentioned above, regarding Oracle RHCK support...
[CB Response Sensors & CB Protection Agents: Linux]
https://community.carbonblack.com/t5/Documentation-Downloads/CB-Response-Sensors-amp-CB-Protection-A...
Hi Team:
First of all, is there a matrix to indicate the minimal version of the sensor that is supported with each release EDR server version? E.g. EDR 7.3 must have at least 6.2.5-win, EDR 7.2 must have at least 6.1.11-lnx, etc. Customers in Asia have feedback that our life-cycle is too short. By the time they finish upgrading the EDR server to the latest N-1/N-2 version and upgrade of sensors, the GA support will be over in a few months. Since we can prevent the sensors from been automatically upgraded after a EDR server upgrade, having such info will give the customer a peace of mind that the current deployed sensor versions still can work work the upgraded EDR server, until the minimal sensor version cannot be supported anymore. I believe most customers have the false impression that when you upgrade the EDR server, sensors have to be upgraded as well, else things will break
Secondly, I have a few customers where they have deployed our 6.2.3-win sensor on Microsoft Win 10 LTSB, and there isnt plan to upgrade these OS for the next 3-5 years. In essence, it is like OT network with fixed configurations. In such situations, they do not want to upgrade their EDR server and current deployed sensors. In these situations, how can we extend the support for outdated EDR and sensor versions, provided the resolution to the bugs reported to our tech support is not already provided in later supported versions?
Any information on when Windows 11 will be supported?
Hello,
Linux agent 7.1 was released any update to table regarding support for Rhel 8.5 ?
Thanks!
@mikemo38 I believe the latest OS Supported versions are located in the VMware documentation areas. Please check out https://docs.vmware.com/en/VMware-Carbon-Black-EDR/services/cb-edr-oer-linux-sensor/GUID-1F3AF181-3E...
It states RHEL 8.5 kernels 4.18.0-348 are supported with Linux Sensor 7.1.0
I will also check to see if this grid will continue to be maintained going forward.
Hope this helps -
Barbara
Hi everyone,
I'm confusing about this article regarding EDR sensor version that is supported on mac OS.
EDR sensor 7.2.1 is written that supports 12.0.1 mac os Monterey at VMware docs as below url.
But, there is shown up that EDR sensor 7.2.1 supports mac OS 12.2.0 Monterey as below url.
Which is correct...?
I heard that mac sensor 7.2.1 supports macos 12.2.1 but the grid doesn't update I'm very confused
This problem is resolved and updated at Apr 12.
