Carbon Black supports Windows Server 2016 with both Cb Protection 8.0 and Cb Response 5.2+.
With the release of Windows 2016, Microsoft is requiring the certification of drivers installed by third party software vendors. This certification process is the next iteration of the Hardware Logo Kit (HLK) and is commonly referred to as WHQL.
Since the Cb Protection agent and Cb Response sensor include their own kernel driver, they need to be WHQL certified to install and run on Windows Server 2016.
The Cb Protection 8.0 agent is WHQL certified with the 8.0 agent and can be deployed on Windows Server 2016. Cb Response is currently working through the process of WHQL certification but in the meantime is grandfathered in so that the 5.2 or greater sensor works with Windows Server 2016.
As Windows Server 2016 becomes more popular, we anticipate that our customers will want to deploy the Cb Protection Server (aka the Console) on this latest version of Windows Server particularly in new deployments. Cb Protection 8.0 supports deploying on Windows Server 2016 with SQL Server 2016.
Cb Response certified to support Windows Server 2016. Please review the following post for details.
Hello Tim,
Any idea when is the official release for Cb Protection 8.0?
Thanks,
Hi,
Our release schedules are based on quality and meeting certain criteria in order to enter General Availability. That said, we are targeting the end of the quarter and our Controlled Distribution program has been going well.
