Objective
This article demonstrates how to import a certificate into Google Chrome to suppress the "Your connection is not private" message that's received when visiting a website with an untrusted certificate.
Resolution
- Open the site displaying the message.
- Click the "Not secure" message to the left of the URL in the address bar.
- When the popup is displayed, click "Certificate."
- In the window that opens up, click the "Details" tab.
- Click "Copy to File."
- You can leave the default and click "Next."
- Give the certificate a name, and select a folder you want to save the cert.
- Now open Settings in Chrome by clicking the three dots to the right of the address bar and selecting "Settings."
- Click Privacy and Security.
- Select "Security."
- Scroll down and select "Manage Certificates."
- Click "Import."
- Select "Next" and then find the certificate we saved in Step 5.) using "Browse."
- Click "Next."
- Click "Browse" and then select "Trusted Root Certificate Authorities," then click "Ok."
- Select "Next" and then "Finish."
