App Control: Can the Software Decide Which NIC the Agent Uses In Windows?

App Control: Can the Software Decide Which NIC the Agent Uses In Windows?

Environment

  • App Control Agent: All Supported Versions
  • Microsoft Windows: All Supported Versions

Question

Can the App Control agent software decide which NIC the agent uses in the event that the Windows server has multiple NICs?

Answer

No. The OS would decide what NIC is used to connect. When the agents connects to the console it does so using DNS, so if both NICs are on separate subnets you would need to verify that the nslookup <servername> resolves to the correct external IP address on the endpoint.
