App Control: Cloned Machines Unable to Connect After Upgrade to 8.1.4 - 8.1.5

Environment

  • App Control (formerly CB Protection) Server: 8.1.4 - 8.1.5
  • App Control Agent: 8.1.4 or Higher

Symptoms

  • Cloned machines built off a template do not connect to the server
  • Dascli Status shows connection state as "Connected (waiting)"
  • Trace logs show a WinHTTP 12152 error

Cause

Code dealing with host ID assignment was not registering on new templates

Resolution

This was a server side issue and is corrected in server versions 8.1.6+, found here:

Additional Notes

EP-8870- Fixed an issue where if a computer running an agent had been converted into a template, the 8.1.4 server was unable to allow that agent to reconnect once it was brought online again.
