App Control: Computers Page Very Slow or Having Unusual Behavior After Upgrading to 8.9+

Environment

• App Control Server: 8.9.0 - 8.9.4

Symptoms

Navigating to Console > Assets > Computers page results in:

• Slow down or timeout errors
• Unusual behavior or errors
• Navigating to "https://ServerAddress/hostsold.php" does not have the same issues

Cause

The release of Server 8.9.0 introduced new logic and features with the Computers page.

Resolution

This issue was fixed with the release of Server 8.9.6 and tracked under EP-17346.

Additional Notes

• Previously the workaround was to complete the following:
  1. Log in to the App C server with the CB Service Account or another Admin account
  2. If an Agent is installed on the server you may need to disable Tamper Protection
  3. Rename the following files:

     "C:\Program Files (x86)\Bit9\Parity Console\WebUI\html\Computers.php" to Computers-backup.php
     "C:\Program Files (x86)\Bit9\Parity Console\WebUI\html\hostsOld.php" to Computers.php

  4. From an administrative command prompt issue the command: iisreset
  5. Refresh the Computers page
