App Control (Formerly Cb Protection): Why do I see High CPU during Agent Initialization?

Environment

  • App Control (Formerly Cb Protection) Agent: All Versions
  • Microsoft Windows: All Supported Versions
  • Apple MacOS: All Supported Versions
  • Linux: All Supported Versions

Question

Why is the agent using most of my CPU during the initialization phase?

Answer

The App Control (Formerly Cb Protection) Agent uses what is allowed by the OS and gives up CPU to other applications during the initialization phase

Additional Notes

  • During Initialization the Agent is analyzing existing files on the endpoint to put into inventory, using as much CPU as allowed by the OS to shorten the time to complete
  • There should be no performance impact during the initialization phase
