App Control: Host Package Hangs at Validating SQL Credentials When Using SQL Accounts

Environment

  • App Control Server: 8.5+
  • SQL Authentication Instead of Service Account

Symptoms

  • Host Packages hang and fail to complete installation
  • HostPackageInstall logs show hang on: 
    Validating SQL Credentials...

     

Cause

This is caused by the addition of {} in the SQL account information in the Shepherd.DSN file

Resolution

  1. Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Bit9\Parity Server\
  2. Edit the Shepherd.dsn file
  3. Remove the { and } from the password field
  4. Restart the App Control Server service
