Objective
To migrate the App Control Server installation to a different server.
Resolution
- Make backups of:
- Uninstall the App Control Server:
- Log in to the application server as the Carbon Black Service Account.
- If an App Control Agent is currently installed on the server, temporarily disable Tamper Protection and move it to Local Approval.
- Navigate to Start > Run > appwiz.cpl > click OK.
- Make a note of the App Control Server version currently installed, and uninstall.
- Power down (or rename) the application server.
- Log in to the new application server as the Carbon Black Service Account and install App Control Server as outlined in Server Documentation > Server Installation Guide on VMware Docs.
- Note: It is recommended to use the same App Control Server version as was used previously.
- When prompted, choose "Use Existing Database".
- When prompted, use the Console and IIS Certificates stored in the database. If necessary, use the exported backups.
- After installation is complete, log in to the Console and confirm Agents are connecting.
