App Control: How to Rebuild the Agent Cache After Corruption (Remote)

App Control: How to Rebuild the Agent Cache After Corruption (Remote)

Environment

  • App Control Agent: All Supported Versions
  • App Control Console: All Supported Versions

Objective

How to delete the cache of a connected Agent remotely, from the Console.

Resolution

  1. Login to the Console and navigate to Assets > Computers > relevant Computer.
  2. From the Computer Details page > right-side menu > Other Actions > Delete Database > Go.
  3. From the Other Actions menu > Restart Service > Go.

Additional Notes

  • Deleting the agent cache files as shown, will cause the device to re-initialize and approve all files on the system
  • If the machine is sensitive to degraded performance or possible blocks we recommend doing this after hours or during a time frame where this is acceptable
  • If experiencing the above on more than a handful of devices it may be good to consider using the cache integrity property as described in this KB
