Objective
To reinstall Internet Information Services (IIS)
Resolution
- Take a full backup of the App Control database.
- Log in to the application server hosting the Console as the Carbon Black Service Account.
- Uninstall App Control Server software.
- Uninstall IIS
- Open Server Manager > Manage > Remove Roles and Features > select the server hostname > Next
- Uncheck "Web Server" (IIS) > Next
- Uncheck "Windows Process Activation Service" > Remove
- Wait for uninstall to complete
- Restart the application server.
- After reboot, in File Explorer, delete or rename the following folders:
- C:\inetpub
- C:\Windows\System32\inetsrv
- Check any secondary drives for remnants of IIS logs or configuration files
- Reinstall IIS
- Open Server Manager > Manage > Add Roles and Features > select the server hostname > Next
- Add the Server Role: Web Server (IIS), confirm configuration matches Common Requirements from Carbon Black App Control Documentation -> Server OER
- Click Next and wait for install to complete. Reboot if prompted
- Reinstall the App Control Server software.
Additional Notes
Uninstalling IIS will remove any custom configurations that were previously set.
