App Control: Is it Possible to View Server vs Workstation Licenses in the Console?

App Control: Is it Possible to View Server vs Workstation Licenses in the Console?

Environment

  • App Control Console: All Supported Versions

Question

App Control Licenses are purchased by Server OS and Workstation OS but is it possible to tell the number of each in the console?

Answer

  • Whilst the App Control Console displays the total number of licenses that are included, it does not break them down by Server or Workstation at this time
  • It does however, show how many of the included licenses are currently in use by Servers, whose count can be taken away from the overall 'In Use' count, to determine the existing Non-Server OS Types/Workstations currently in use

Additional Notes

Example below from the 'Summary' Section of 'Licensing' Tab on the 'System Configuration' Page:
Carbon Black App Control Suite license Limit: 50 In use: 3
There are 3 computers (2 servers) currently in Control policies.
The following additional features have been enabled: File Uploads, Connectors

From this example, it shows:
  • 50 Licenses are available
  • 3 Licenses are in use
  • 2 of the Licenses are for Servers (the remaining 1 computer we can take to mean a Non-Server OS/Workstation)
