App Control: Server Service Crash Due to No Free Space

Environment

  • App Control Server: All Supported Versions
  • Microsoft Windows Server: All Supported Versions

Symptoms

  • App Control Server and Reporter services unable to stay running.
  • Crash logs filling C:\Program Files (x86)\Bit9\Parity Server\Support\
  • No free space on the servers drive.

Cause

Not enough free space for the server's services to build correctly. 

Resolution

  1. Login to the application server hosting the App Control Console as the Carbon Black Service Account.
  2. Verify the App Control Server and Reporter service are stopped.
  3. Delete:
    • Any dump files in "C:\Program Files (x86)\Bit9\Parity Server\Support\"
    • Any temporary files in "C:\Program Files (x86)\Bit9\Parity Server\hostpkg\temp\"
    • Any temporary files in "C:\Users\<SERVICE ACCOUNT>\AppData\Local\Temp\"
  4. Start the App Control Server & Reporter services.
