App Control: TMP Files Not Deleted After Creation of Linux Policy Installers

Environment

  • App Control Server: All Versions (Formerly CB Protection)
  • App Control Linux Agent: Enabled

Symptoms

  • Policy installers are not generating 
  • Temp Folder contains thousands of .tmp files

Cause

Due to a build issue, a series of temp files are left behind randomly, causing future builds to fail. 

Resolution

  1. Stop the CB Protection Server and Reporter Service
  2. Navigate to C:\Users\<SERVICE ACCOUNT>\Appdata\Local\Temp
  3. Delete the files that have file names of:
    tmp****.tmp
  4. Start the CB Protection Server and Reporter Services

Additional Notes

VMware Carbon Black is investigating an automatic cleanup in a future release.
