Symptoms
- Reinstallation Agent failed
- Errors in Logs installation file
Starting ParityDriver Rollback:
(WARNING) ParityDriver service does not exist.
(FAILURE) Unable to start ParityDriver service
Cause
There could be leftover registry keys or files that were in use and could not be deleted even if the box was rebooted
Resolution
- Log on to the affected endpoint
- Delete the C:\windows\system32\drivers\parity.sys
- Delete the C:\windows\system32\drvstore\parity* directory
- Then install using the following command line:
msiexec /i {path}\{filename}.msi NOSTARTPARITY=1 NOSTARTDRIVER=1 /l*v {path}\manual_install.log
- Back to C:\windows\system32\drvstore\Parity*\ and right clicked the INI or INF file and hit Install
- Reboot the box
- Confirm the agent and the driver should be running
Additional Notes
This issue may happen even if the Agent Uninstall Utility has been run
