App Control: What is Certificate Verification?

App Control: What is Certificate Verification?

Environment

  • App Control Console: All Supported Versions

Question

What does the setting "Certificate Verification" mean under the System Configuration > Security tab in the Console?

Answer

Enabling Certificate Verification instructs all App Control Agents to verify the authenticity of the App Control Server Certificate against a Certificate Authority or their Root Certificates. This adds a level of security to communications because communications between Agent and Server cannot be spoofed.

Additional Notes

  • Certificate Verification is not recommended for Self-signed Certificates, as it may cause all Agents to disconnect.
  • More information regarding Certificate Verification can be found in the User Guide chapter, "System Configuration".
