Question

What methods can be used to uninstall the Windows Agent?

Answer

There are several methods available to uninstall the App Control Agent, and the best method for removal largely depends on the situation.  Several common scenarios are listed below:

• If the Agent is showing as Connected in the Console, and otherwise in a "Healthy State": Remove the Agent normally.
• If the Agent is showing as Disconnected in the Console, and otherwise in a "Healthy State": Remove the Agent manually.
• If the Agent is showing as Disconnected in the Console, and authentication has failed: Remove the Agent via Safe Mode.
• If desired; a Connected Agent can be uninstalled via the Console.
• If desired; the Agent can be uninstalled via third party utilities.
• If desired; the Agent can be uninstalled using an Agent Uninstall Key (requires Safe Mode).
• If the Agent has failed all other removal attempts the Agent Uninstall Utility may become necessary.

Additional Notes

Starting with Agent version 8.1.5, the per-Agent CLI password is disabled by default. A Global CLI Password is strongly encouraged to allow for administration of the Agents, especially when in a Disconnected stated.
