CB Defense: How Does The PSC Track Each Sensor Installation?

Environment

  • CB Defense PSC Console: All Versions
  • CB Defense Sensor: All Versions
  • Microsoft Windows: All Supported Versions
  • Apple macOS: All Supported Versions
  • Linux: All Supported Versions

Question

How does the CB Defense server keep track of each sensor installation?

Answer

At installation a unique Device ID is assigned

Additional Notes

The Device Hostname is not a unique identifier, but each Device will have a unique Device ID. This Device ID is unique for the environment the Device is registered to. Updating the Sensor does not change the Device ID, but if the Sensor is uninstalled and reinstalled a new Device ID is generated.
