CB Defense: Sensor UI taskbar icon reflects the wrong status

Environment

  • CB Defense PSC Sensor: All Versions
  • Microsoft Windows: All Versions

Symptoms

  • Sensor UI taskbar icon is in "Active" although device status is in "Bypass" and it is not uploading events
  • Sensor UI taksbar icon is in "Bypass" although device status is "Active" and uploading events
  • Issue occurs intermittently 

Cause

The Sensor UI is being initialized before it can make a connection to kernel and obtain the current configuration data

Resolution

  • To workaround this issue, a configuration change to the assigned device policy usually corrects the Sensor UI status
  • In the meantime, Carbon Black is working on a permanent fix to this issue which will be be made available in a future sensor release
