Issue

 

cb-pgsql service fails to start on Carbon Black server

 

Symptoms

 

In the /var/log/cb/pgsql/startup.log you can check for the following error:

Permission denied 2015-02-24 18:19:22 CST [(3033) @ ] FATAL: could not create lock file "/tmp/.s.PGSQL.5002.lock"

 

Cause

 

Permissions on the /tmp/ folder have been altered and the 'cb' user no longer have write privileges to the folder.

 

Solution

 

The /tmp/ folder should have full rights for all users, so you can run the following command to change the permissions:

chmod 777 /tmp/
