CB Protection: Linux 7.4.2 agent install fails with error "The installer has detected that you are running an unsupported kernel 4.18.0-147.5.1.el8_1.x86_64."

Environment

  • CB Protection LInux Agent: 7.4.2
  • CB Protection Server:  All versions
  • RHEL version: 8.x
  • RHEL kernel version:  4.18.0-147.5.1.el8_1.x86_64

Symptoms

The 7.4.2 agent install fails with the following dialog:
Running transaction
Running scriptlet: b9notifier-7.4.2-112.el8.x86_64 1/1
Preparing : 1/1
Running scriptlet: b9notifier-7.4.2-112.el8.x86_64 1/1
Checking that running kernel 4.18.0-147.5.1.el8_1.x86_64 is supported

The installer has detected that you are running an unsupported kernel 4.18.0-147.5.1.el8_1.x86_64.
There are no supported kernels on your system. Please install a kernel from the range of supported kernel 4.18.0-80.el8.x86_64
You can boot into one of them and run the Bit9 installer again

error: (b9notifier-7.4.2-112.el8.x86_64) scriptlet failed, exit status 1

 

Cause

An issue was found with the 7.4.2 sensor and this kernel version.

Resolution

This issue is fixed in the 7.4.4 agent.
