App Control: Unable to run Host Package Installers on Non-US English Servers

App Control: Unable to run Host Package Installers on Non-US English Servers

Environment

  • App Control Server: 8.1.4 and Higher
  • Microsoft Windows Server: All Supported Versions
  • Clock set to non US English format (dd/mm/yyyy)

Symptoms

  • Host Package Installer for agents or rules will fail with no log created
  • Manually running the installer shows:
Unable to locate file or path
The system cannot find the path specified
Could not find part of the path 'C:\Users\XXXX\AppData\Local\Temp\HostPackageInstall...

Cause

The folder path created by the installer expects US date/time format. In other clock settings such as English (Europe) the date/time format is not parsed correctly.

Resolution

  1. Set the CB Protection Server's clock settings to English (United States) while logged into the server as the CB service account user.
  2. Confirm "Short date" format is M/d/yyyy
  3. Re-upload the host package installers
