Carbon Black Cloud: Bulk Update of Sensors from Console Completes with 0 Sensors updated

Environment

  • Carbon Black Cloud Console: April 2022 (0.77) Release and Higher
  • Carbon Black Cloud Sensor: All Supported Versions
  • Microsoft Windows: All Supported Versions
  • Apple macOS: All Supported Versions
  • Linux: All Supported Versions

Symptoms

  • Bulk upgrade of sensors never occurs
  • Sensor Update Status jobs show 0 sensors in the job while processing and will complete with 0 sensors
  • Job shows as pending before completing with 0 Updates after 5 - 10 minutes
  • Typically observed when updating hundreds/thousands of endpoints across multiple operating systems, i.e. Windows and macOS
  • Console and logs do not show any errors

Cause

A regression in how sensors are queried on the backend causes the query to come back empty - DSER-40469

Resolution

This was fixed via a back-end update on June 14th, 2022.
