Carbon Black Cloud: Observing cbagentd.service holdoff time over, scheduling restart

Carbon Black Cloud: Observing cbagentd.service holdoff time over, scheduling restart

Environment

  • Carbon Black Linux Sensor: All Supported Versions
  • Linux: All Supported Versions

Symptoms

  • Observing the following message in /var/log/messages
  • systemd: cbagentd.service holdoff time over, scheduling restart
  • Sensor installed, but not checking in

Resolution

  • The log message "systemd: cbagentd.service holdoff time over, scheduling restart" is in reference to restarting our service due to improper configuration
  • This issue can occur if the sensor was not registered, e.g. did not provide a company code to the install.sh script nor later registered with cbagentd -d <COMPANYCODE> option. As a result, the agent daemon refuses to run. This is by design.
  • To resolve this issue provide the COMPANYCODE when installing the sensor
