Carbon Black Cloud: VDI Re-Register Fails

Environment

• Carbon Black Cloud Sensor: All Supported Versions
• Microsoft Windows: All Supported Versions
• VDI Environment

Symptoms

• reregister fails
• device does not obtain new device ID
• confer log shows:

  ERROR CCurlWrapper::ProcessResultCommon: handle id: CloudWeightedTask_37, libcurl err SSL connect error (35)
  ERROR RepUtilReRegisterDevice: ERROR: unable to register: 6
  ERROR RepUtilReregister: ERROR: re-register device failed

Cause

Connection to the CBC backend failed.

 

Resolution

Ensure the device is online and has the proper firewall and port rules

Additional Notes

Connectivity is required during this process as the backend is what assigns the new Device ID
