Cb Defense: How To Enable or Disable Windows Security Center (WSC) Integration

Environment

  • Cb Defense Web Console: All Versions
  • Cb Defense Sensor: Versions 2.1.0.9+
  • Microsoft Windows: Windows 7 or later operating systems

Objective

Provide instructions on how to enable or disable Windows Security Center (WSC) integration in Cb Defense.

Resolution

To enable Cb Defense WSC integration:

  • Log into the Cb Defense Management Console.
  • Click the Settings icon in the top-right corner.
  • Click Policies.
  • In the left panel, click the policy group to integrate with WSC. All sensors in this policy group will be integrated with WSC.
  • In the right panel, select the checkbox for Use Windows Security Center to enable WSC integration.

To disable Cb Defense WSC integration:

  • Log into the Cb Defense Management Console.
  • Click the Settings icon in the top-right corner.
  • Click Policies.
  • In the left panel, click the policy group.
  • In the right panel, deselect the checkbox for Use Windows Security Center to disable WSC integration

Additional Notes

  • Cb Defense is a Microsoft-certified antivirus provider for WSC. See Consumer antivirus software providers for Windows (Microsoft).
  • You can integrate Cb Defense with WSC and designate Cb Defense as your antivirus provider on devices that are running Windows 7 or later operating systems.
  • You must be using Cb Defense sensor version 2.1.0.9 or later to do so (latest version is recommended). When WSC integration is enabled, Cb Defense is listed as the antivirus provider on the device.
  • For newly provisioned Cb Defense orgs, WSC integration is enabled by default in the default (Standard) policy group. You can disable WSC integration at any time; Doing so does not disable Cb Defense.
  • Cb Defense orgs provisioned prior to release of 2.1.0.9 sensor (before July, 2017) will need to enable WSC via policy settings.
