Cb Defense: Sensor Uninstall From Web Console Fails When Require Code To Uninstall Sensor Enabled (Windows)

Environment

  • Cb Defense Web Console: All Versions
  • Cb Defense Sensor: 3.2.0.10101
  • Microsoft Windows: All Supported Versions

Symptoms

  • "Require code to uninstall sensor" enabled for Policy
  • Cb Defense Sensor 3.2.0.10101 installed
  • Uninstall attempted from Web Console
  • Sensor shows as Deregistered in Web Console
  • Sensor remains installed on endpoint
  • New Events continue to be seen on the Investigate page
  • Manual uninstall no longer requires uninstall code

Resolution

This article will be updated once the cause and fix have been identified. If uninstalling the Sensor is required, use one of the following options.

From Web Console

  1. Move sensor to a Policy where "Require code to uninstall sensor" is disabled
  2. Uninstall sensor from Web Console

From Endpoint (after uninstall attempted from Web Console)

  1. Open an elevated command prompt (right-click cmd.exe > Run as Administrator)
  2. Run the following command

    "C:\Program Files\Confer\Uninstall.exe" /uninstall
