Cb Defense: Windows 10 April Update (1803) Causing Black Screen At Login

Environment

  • Cb Defense Sensor: 3.1.0.x and 3.2.x
  • Microsoft Windows: Windows 10 April Update (1803)

Symptoms

  • Apply Windows 10 April Update (1803)
  • Black screen appears at login after reboot or on startup

Cause

This issue occurs because of an interoperability issue between Windows 10 graphic card drivers and Cb Defense Sensor.

Resolution

After internal testing, Carbon Black has confirmed that updating the drivers for the graphics card resolves the issue.

Additional Information

  • You must restart the system after updating the drivers in order for the change to take effect.
