Cb Protection: Console Unavailable - The FastCGI Process has failed frequently

Environment

  • Cb Protection 7.x - 8.x

Symptoms

  • When opening up the Cb Protection web console, you receive the error: "HTTP Error 500.0 - Internal Server Error. The FastCGI process has failed frequently recently. Try the request again in a while."
  • Multiple events in Event Viewer pointing to .net framework

Cause

Corrupt IIS, Runtime, or .Net files

Resolution

  1. Uninstall Cb Protection Server from Programs and Features.
  2. Uninstall IIS (and dependencies) from Server Manager.
  3. Reboot
  4. Reinstall IIS per OER document (linked in below Related Content)
  5. Run the ParityServerSetup.exe file but do NOT proceed with the installation yet, stay on the first page of the installer window. (Be sure you are logged in as the account you want the services to run from)
  6. Navigate to %localappdata%\temp (c:\users\usernameofserviceaccount\appdata\local\temp)
  7. Locate the "vcredist_x86.exe"  for the installer. This will generally be in the folder with the most recent "Date Modified" and a path similar to : C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\Temp\{1B125CB4-2DAC-4A46-9758-6327E2F7C861}\Disk1\ISSetupPrerequisites\{340b0957-35ca-1324-bbc9-ba5db9082dad}\vcredist_x86.exe
  8. Run the "vsredist_x86.exe" file to launch the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable installer.
  9. Choose and run the "Repair" option
  10. Proceed with installing the Cb Protection Server app
  11. Confirm console access.
