Cb Protection: Server Re-install failure "Parity_History Backup Already Exists"

Environment

• Cb Protection 7.x
• Cb Protection 8.x
• Microsoft Windows

Symptoms

• Server install error "Cb Protection Console could not be deployed on IIS. Please re-install IIS and try again"
• Install log shows "Parity_History Backup Already Exists"
• Install log could show "Unable to remove IIS Backup"

Cause

The main cause for this is a permissions error with the IIS appcmd program. Its unable to remove the backup directory for the Cb Protection site. After an uninstall or previous install error.

Resolution

1. Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\Inetsrv\backup
2. Cut the folder PARITY_HISTORY and place it somewhere outside the C:\Windows directory, like your desktop.
3. Once the folder is completely moved outside of the backup directory, try the server install again.
