Cb Response: 6.1.2 Sensor Performance Issue With USB External DVD Devices

Environment

  • Cb Response Sensor: Version 6.1.2.71109
  • Microsoft Windows 10: All supported versions
  • Microsoft Windows 7: All supported versions

Symptoms

In the Windows Device Manager the affected USB device reads:

device cannot load driver due to a previous instance of the driver being loaded in memory, Error(38)

A restart of the endpoint is required for the USB device to work again once it has been unplugged

Cause

Performance issue between the 6.1.2 Cb Response Sensor and USB DVD devices

Resolution

Upgrade the Cb Response Sensor to version 6.1.6

Additional Notes

If the 6.1.6 sensor does not correct the issue please submit a Support case with the following information included:

  • Sensor logs
  • Procmon trace (captured when the issue is occurring)
  • Endpoint OS
  • Third party Anti-Virus products
