App Control: How to Change the Hostname of the App Control Server

App Control: How to Change the Hostname of the App Control Server

Environment

  • App Control Agent: All Supported Versions
  • App Control Server: All Supported Versions

Objective

Change the hostname of the App Control Server.

Resolution

  1. Verify the DNS Server has been configured to send traffic from the old Server Address to the new Server Address.
  2. Log in to the App Control Console and navigate to System Configuration > General > Edit.
  3. Update the "Server Address" to match the new name.
  4. Once the changes have been applied:
  5. Existing Agents will continue to attempt to connect via the old Server Address, unless manually updated (Windows, Linux, macOS).
  6. If SAML is in use, the Identity Provider may need to be reconfigured with the updated XML containing the new hostname.

Additional Notes

  • Agents will not use the new Server Address until they are either reinstalled or manually updated with the setserver command.
  • An Agent Upgrade will not change the Server Address.
