Container Essentials: Kubernetes Cluster Running Out of Disk Space Due to Docker-Tar Files

Environment

  • Containers Essential: 2.9.0 and Lower

Symptoms

  • A node will go into an error state
  • The disk space will be full of docker-tar files

Cause

New pods are trying to be scheduled while the old failing pods aren't being deleted which causes the disk to fill up

Resolution

Upgrade to 2.9.1 as some fixes have been implemented

Additional Notes

If still seeing the issue please pull kubectl logs and screenshots of the files filling the disk
