Environment

  • EDR: Server 7.8.0
  • Linux: 8.x

Symptoms

Dependency error when running "dnf update" or "yum update all"
 
Error:
Problem: problem with installed package cb-enterprise-7.7.2.221122.1152-1.el8.x86_64
- package cb-enterprise-7.7.2-221122.1152-1.el8.x86_64 requires openresty = 1.21.4.1-1a.cb.el8, but none of the providers can be installed
- package cb-enterprise-7.8.0.230722.0708-1.el8.x86_64 requires openresty = 1.21.4.1-1a.cb.el8, but none of the providers can be installed
- cannot install both openresty-1.21.4.1.1b.cb.el8.x86_64 and openresty-1.21.4.1-1a.cb.el8.x86_64
- cannot install the best candidate for the job
(try to add ‘—allowerasing’ to command line to replace conflicting packages or ‘—skip-broken’ to skip uninstallable packages or ‘—nobest’ to use not only best candidate packages)

Cause

yum or dnf is attempting to update modules in cb-enterpise that do not need to be a newer version

Resolution

Before running "yum or dnf update" disable the CarbonBlack repo
