Endpoint Standard: Why does an application that has been banned show up on the alert page?

Environment

  • Endpoint Standard Sensor: All versions
  • Carbon Black Cloud Sensor: All supported versions

Question

Why does an application that has been banned show up on the alert page but does not show as blocked?

Answer

The alert will show up if malware is detected by sensor background scanning, however, since the application is banned and hasn't performed any task, no action is taken by sensor.
