Hosted EDR: Can An Older Sensor Be Deployed To A Newer Version Of Hosted EDR?

Hosted EDR: Can An Older Sensor Be Deployed To A Newer Version Of Hosted EDR?

Environment

  • Hosted EDR: All Supported Versions
  • EDR Sensor: All Supported Versions

Question

Can an older EDR sensor be deployed to a newer version of Hosted EDR if the sensor is not already listed as an option in the UI?

Answer

  • If a sensor version is the latest version and one version below the latest, it will be available to download from the EDR console UI
  • Versions older than the above will not be available to download from the console UI even if they are still supported
  • Older versions of EDR sensors available in the GUI to download may be removed on server upgrade
  • Older sensor version installers that are downloaded can be installed and should connect to the instance but will not be re-added to the UI for download

Additional Notes

  • Unsupported sensor versions may still install and connect to the instance but will not be eligible for support assistance
  • Legacy sensor versions with long term support will still be available to download from the Hosted EDR console
  • The sensorsettings.ini file can be modified or replaced from already downloaded legacy installers if needed
