Server Address does not match Common Name provided in SSL certificate. Agents using this server address will not be able to talk to server

Server Address does not match Common Name provided in SSL certificate. Agents using this server address will not be able to talk to server

Version:

6.x, 7.x

Issue:

When trying to set syslog parameters in the Bit9 Console (under Administration --> System Configuration --> Events page), getting the following message:

"Server Address does not match Common Name provided in SSL certificate. Agents using this server address will not be able to talk to server"

Solution:

The message means that the server name (seen under the General tab of the System Configuration) does not match the certificate Common Name  (seen under the Security tab of the System Configuration).

Check both screens to compare the values:

Administration --> System Configuration --> General (check the Server Address value)

Administration --> System Configuration --> Security (check the Common Name value)

If the value is the same on both screens but the case is different (lowercase/uppercase) that is not a problem but it explains the message. Move on and OK the message and move on with the syslog configuration changes.

If the value is different, make the necessary adjustments to have the correct and matching value in both field
