Version

Issue

When trying to download either the Installer or Patcher for Carbon Black Enterprise Protection, you are alerted with the following error: "The signature of "Installer/Patcher" is corrupt or invalid."

Cause
Our Installers and Patchers are signed with SHA-1, while Internet Explorer requires SHA-256. Due to the discrepancy, Internet Explorer makes the file(s) as corrupt/invalid.

Solution

1) Disregard the message

2) Use a different browser to download the file(s). (Chrome preferred)

Important Note(s)

We cannot sign our installers/patchers with SHA-256, as this would prevent them from working on earlier versions of Windows operating system. It is on our to-do list to separate the installer for Windows 2003 and earlier, and then for Windows 7 and later.
