The 'Unable to connect to the host and port specified' message when running 'yum update' suggests the system is unable to connect to the RHN (rhn.redhat.com) server.
Running the following commands will confirm whether the system is able to make a connection to the RHN (rhn.redhat.com) server:
a. telnet rhn.redhat.com 80
b. telnet rhn.redhat.com 443
Possible resolutions to the issue would be modifying any proxy/firewall rules to allow access to rhn.redhat.com, and to confirm if the RedHat server name and SSL certificate path is correct in /etc/sysconfig/rhn/up2date.
Additionally, if proxy server is being used, open the /etc/sysconfig/rhn/up2date file, set "enable_http_proxy" parameter to 1.
