App Control: How to Collect Database Logs for Performance Issues (SQL Server)

Environment

• App Control Server: All Supported Versions
• Microsoft SQL Server: All Supported Versions

Objective

This article details how to collect diagnostic logs for SQL performance cases

Resolution

1. Export SQL logs:
   1. Open SQL Management Studio
   2. Connect to the SQL instance hosting the DAS database
   3. Expand Management > right-click on SQL Server Logs > select View > select SQL Server Log > check the Current log  > click Export
2. Download the Performance Scripts from Attachments section 
   1. Open SQL Server Management Studio
   2. Open a new script window
   3. Press CTRL+T to force output as a text file
   4. Run all attached scripts, using F5 to execute each one
   5. Save the results and attach to the case.
3. Export the Windows Events for Application and System:
   • How to Collect Event Viewer logs
4. Attach all of the above to the support case, or if the files are too large, please reach out to Support for an upload link.
