App Control: What Happens to Agents When the Server Is Offline?

Environment

  • App Control Server: All Supported Versions
  • App Control Agent: All Supported Versions

Question

What happens to Agents when the App Control Server Is offline, or if the Agent is otherwise unable to connect?

Answer

  • Agents will not receive new Rules, Approvals, Bans, Agent Management, or any other data that would involve communication with the Server
  • Agents will "hold" information they would normally pass to the Server until connection is restored
  • Agents will continue to enforce according to Policy settings (Rules > Policies > relevant Policy > Disconnected Enforcement

Additional Notes

By default Agents store 5,000 Events locally. If more than 5,000 Events are captured prior to re-connection, there can be a lapse in data.
