CB Defense: Network file access slow or fails when "Scan execute on network drives" is enabled

Environment

  • CB Defense Sensor: 2.0.x.x - 3.3.x.x
  • Microsoft Windows: All Supported Versions
  • "Scan execute on network drives" is enabled in the sensor policy

Symptoms

  • Attempts to open, save, or move files in the network share drive fail
  • Access to files in the network drives may fail or access will be very slow

Cause

When "Scan execute on network drives" is enabled in the policy, the current sensor logic to deal with sharing violations may result in potential  performance issues when accessing files on a network drive

Resolution

  • If unable to upgrade, disable "Scan execute on network drives" for the affected endpoint's policies

Additional Notes
