Carbon Black Cloud: How to Uninstall Windows Sensor via Command Prompt

Environment

  • Carbon Black Cloud Sensor: 3.1.x.x and Higher
  • Microsoft Windows: All Supported Versions

Objective

How to uninstall a Carbon Black Cloud sensor via command prompt on Windows

Resolution

  1. Open a Windows command prompt.
  2. Navigate to the Confer directory:
    CD %ProgramFiles%\Confer
  3. Run one of the following commands, depending on your Policy setting for 'Require Code to Uninstall Sensor'
    • Uninstall Code Enabled:
      uninstall.exe /uninstall <code>
    • Uninstall Code Disabled:
      uninstall.exe /uninstall
NOTE:  The code can be the Individual Sensor Uninstall Code or the Company Deregistration Code.

Additional Notes

  • The uninstallation will be logged to a file named ‘cb-installer-<version>.log’ in the ‘%temp%’ directory, or to ‘%SystemRoot%\temp’ if ‘%temp%’ is unavailable.
  • The  Individual Sensor Uninstall Code and the Company Deregistration Code will work when the sensor is offline.
  • The Confer directory and log files will remain after the sensor is uninstalled.
