Carbon Black Cloud: How to Uninstall Windows Sensor via Command Prompt

Environment

  • Carbon Black Cloud Sensor: 3.1.x.x and Higher
  • Microsoft Windows: All Supported Versions

Objective

How to uninstall a Carbon Black Cloud sensor via command prompt on Windows

Resolution

  1. Using a Local Administrator account, open a command prompt with administrative privileges.
  2. Navigate to the Confer directory:
    • cd C:\Program Files\Confer
  3. Run one of the following commands, depending on your Policy setting for 'Require code to uninstall sensor'
    • Uninstall Code Enabled (case sensitive, alpha characters should be entered in uppercase)
      uninstall.exe /uninstall xxxxxxxx
    • Uninstall Code Disabled:
      uninstall.exe /uninstall

Additional Notes

  • The Confer directory and log files will remain after the sensor is uninstalled.
  • The deregistration code can be used even when the sensor is offline as long as it has not changed.  If it has changed, use the individual sensor uninstall code found on the Endpoints page and expanding the sensor row.
  • Uninstall log will either be generated at %temp%\cb-installer-<version>.log or, if %temp% does not exist, %SystemRoot%\temp (typically C:\Windows\temp).
