Completely Uninstall IIS After Using Full Installer for Same Version Upgrade

Version

7.2.x

Issue

Upgrade to an existing 7.2 installation with the full installation package (rather than the patch)

Symptoms

Towards the end of the installation, they should see the error “Bit9 Console could not be deployed on IIS. Please re-install IIS and try again. Exiting Bit9 Server installation”.
This error results in a roll back of the installation.

No access to the Bit9 console after roll back.

405 Errors after re-installing Bit9

Cause

The incorrect use of the full installer. All same major version (7.2.x.x) upgrades need to use the patch.
The full installer corrupts the IIS settings, which prevents the console from coming back up properly upon roll back.

Solution

Perform a complete uninstall of IIS from the server, and then reinstall IIS with the proper settings.

Uninstallation steps:

1. Open Add/Remove Programs

2. Open "cmd.exe" as an administrator.

3. Copy the text below to remove all services related to IIS. Modify when needed.
