Windows 10 crash when restarting, shutting down or logging off

Windows 10 crash when restarting, shutting down or logging off

Version
Bit9 Agent 7.2.1.1128 - 7.2.1.1562 (7.2.1 patch 6 - patch 7). Bit9 Agents below this version do NOT support the Windows 10 platform.

Issue
Windows 10 systems do not cleanly shut down/restart/log off with the Bit9 Agent installed.

Symptoms

Attempts at either restarting/shutting down a system or logging off from an interactive logon session cause the system to restart. A corresponding services.exe crash can be found in Windows Event Viewer under the System folder.

Cause
The cause is due to a bug within Microsoft's Windows 10 operating system. A ticket with Microsoft has been submitted to address this problem.

Solution
We will work around this issue in Bit9 Agent 7.2.1 patch 8 (currently scheduled for a late November release - subject to change).
