App Control: App Control Console Inaccessible with 500 Internal Server Error

Environment

  • App Control Server: All Supported Versions
  • Microsoft Windows: All Supported Versions

Symptoms

  • No Access to Console after updating SQLServer with latest CU Patch
  • IISreset does not resolve issue
  • Reboot of Console Server does not resolve issue
  • The following message (Or similar) is seen in the Windows Event Logs ( Level-Error, with Likely Event ID of 4, Source beginning with PHP- ):
PHP Warning: 'C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\VCRUNTIME140.dll' 14.13 is not compatible with this PHP build linked with 14.29 ("C:\Program Files (x86)\Bit9\Parity Console\php\php-cgi.exe")

Cause

  • Cumulative Update restored older version of vcruntime104.dll as part of its installation/update

Resolution

  • Upgrade vcruntime140.dll via Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable latest supported downloads (Link Below) (May require a Reboot):

In the Windows Event Logs, this is an example of the full event details as seen in the 'General' Tab:

The description for Event ID 4 from source PHP-8.1.24 cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.

If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.
