App Control: How to Create a Script Rule

App Control: How to Create a Script Rule

Environment

  • App Control Agent: All Supported Versions
  • App Control Console: All Supported Versions

Objective

How to create a Script Rule in the Console.

Resolution

  1. Log in to the App Control Console and navigate to Rules > Software Rules > Scripts.
  2. Click on 'Add Script Rule'.

Additional Notes

  • The script rule makes that specific extension interesting for the agent
  • The script executions are controlled according to the policy setting, if the script file is Approved the execution will be allowed, or if the status is 'Unapproved', the script file will be blocked
  • Use of very broad definitions for either the Script Type or Script Process field is not recommended because of negative performance impact.
  • If either field in a rules uses * or *.*, a warning will be displayed on the page
  • Be as specific as possible in defining the file patterns in a Script Rule
