App Control: How to Change the Hostname of the App Control Server

App Control: How to Change the Hostname of the App Control Server

Environment

  • App Control Server: All Supported Versions

Objective

Change the hostname of the App Control Server

Resolution

  1. Login to the App Control console
  2. Navigate to System Configuration (gear icon) > General tab
  3. Click "Edit" and update the "Server Address" to match the new name
    • If the new "Server Address" is a FQDN, Alias, or CNAME then a DNS record that points the old name to the new name/IP will be needed in the environment
    • If "Server Address" is using an IP address (and the IP is changing with the host name) then the agents will need to be reinstalled or utilize the "dascli setserver" command (8.x only)
  4. Navigate to System Configuration (gear icon) > Security tab
  5. Under "Current Server Certificate Details" generate new self-signed or import new CA certificate that includes the new and old name
  6. Change the Computer Name of the system to the new server name
  7. Add the newly created certificate to IIS
